Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. She started her Broadway career with musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. In her performance as Essie In You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her professional career working alongside prominent directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford will be next starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford's current project will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust which he is starring in with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford is set to return in 2023. He will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the show. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the crisis in America that picked into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment trial in more than one century. Two seasons ago, Ashford was a star of the hit show on CBS called B Positive. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway won both Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role in the role of Essie. The actress has also performed in Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for the Tony Award. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and was raised in Denver.
